Wainwright's Coast to Coast Walk
And you’re off, on a 200 mile walk across some of the finest walking land in the country. Enjoy
A lovely walk along Ennerdale, through the forest, past Black Sail hut and over loft beck before heading down to Rosthwaite
Heading into the mountains now. Past the impressive Lining crag and down Far Easedale to Grasmere.
A short day up to Grisedale tarn and then down the valley to Patterdale
NOTE: Gale force winds meant we avoided the high ground of Kidsty Pike so this route does not follow exactly Wainwright’s.**
Leaving the Lakes and entering Limestone country. Sweeping landscape and moorland.
A climb up to Nine Standards Rigg and then a moorland walk to Keld, the halfway point.
We followed the river Swale through the lovely villages of Muker and Gunnerside.
A short day taking in Marrick Priory and Marske before heading into Richmond.
Say goodbye to the river Swale today and head across the flat Vale of York.
Another day crossing the Vale of York.
Good to be back onto the hills and moorland today after the agricultural flatlands and you enter your third National Park, the Yorkshire Moors.
Follow the old railway line to the Lion Inn for a nice pub lunch, then across the moors to Glaisdale
Congratulations, you have crossed England from West to East, enjoy the moment and don’t forget to throw your pebble in the North Sea.
