Explorers Choice

Our online travel guide provides inspiration and information about travel and outdoor activities to all guests. In order to create a complete, digital picture of the world, we are heavily reliant on our partners' support and we have decided to recognize their effort and especially the most exemplary ones.

Why are we awarding this badge?

By providing high quality content, we create the basis for digitizing the tourism infrastructure. Digitizing means collaborating – it is only through our partners that we are in the position to gather all of the relevant information out there and make best use of it.

Through the "Explorers Choice" badge, we are recognizing partners who show a particular keenness to digitize their tourism proposition and support those who are in search of trip ideas, accommodation or somewhere to grab a refreshment.

At the same time, the badge is an indicator of quality. It demonstrates to the user which partners present the best content quality and truly deliver the experience they have promised.

How do you earn the badge?

In order to be honored as a professional partner, there are several crucial factors that need to be considered. These include the amount and quality of content published; the reviews and comments received from the Community and how well partners maintain their own profile.

Content creation

A partner should create a lot of content, make sure it is always up to date and polished, and be sure to inspire guests. The more published information on tours, attractions, accommodation, deals and events the greater the chance of being awarded the "Explorers Choice" badge.

Content quality

Quantity alone is not enough; the quality of the content is also being considered based on details of the information given.

We also include the community ratings based on comments, shares, rating and recommendations. For many people, the appraisal of others has long been the most important criterion for decision-making and is therefore taken into account in our average rating of our partner’s content.

Maintenance of the partner's profile

A big part of the review process is also determined by how well maintained the partner's profile is, including the use of a logo, background image, description, contact details, photos and videos.

Benefits of the badge

The eligible partners will have the "Explorers Choice" badge clearly visible on their page.

The badge is showing a compass, a symbol we chose because we believe partners with high quality content are giving better guidance to our users. The badge will also be displayed whenever the partner is the originator of content, such as content detail pages or snippets.

The best three partners from the "Explorers Choice" program will also receive the Outdooractive Award at the ITB in Berlin, as further recognition of their exemplary content creation. They will receive, among other things, a substantial marketing budget that will provide them with yet more reach.
