Winter hiking in the Allgäu
A classic in the Allgäu: the Breitachklamm gorge. Winter hiking tours through the gorge are particularly charming, as the rocky gorge transforms into a fairytale landscape of ice and snow in the winter.
Would you rather climb a peak in the Allgäu Alps and enjoy the view of the mountains? Then you shouldn't miss the Riedberger Horn. The length of the hike is relatively short. It only takes about an hour to reach the summit. Once you have reached the top, you will have an impressive panoramic view, no matter in which direction you look.
If you think a winter hike should include a stop for a bite to eat, you can take the Pfrontener Hüttenwanderung. The Kappeler Alp and the Hündeleskopfhütte offer delicious regional specialities. And, of course, cakes. The Hündeleskopfhütte is a good tip especially for vegetarians, as it is the first vegetarian hütte in the Alps.
On winter hiking tours through the Berchtesgadener Land and around the Königssee lake
The Königssee – a dreamlike idyll surrounded by steeply rising mountains. A pleasant circular trail leads you to the Malerwinkel, a popular vantage point on the northern shore of Lake Königssee. The viewpoint owes its name to the picturesque view of the lake, where you can even see as far as the church of St. Bartolomew.
As long as the lake is not frozen, you can interrupt your hike for a boat trip across the Königssee.
Also in the Berchtesgadener Land, you will come across a fairytale winter hike in the idyllic village of Ramsau. Through the magical forest, which does not bear its name for nothing, you will reach the Hintersee, which is a dreamlike sight, especially in a snow-covered winter landscape.
Hiking through the snow-covered landscape of Chiemgau
The Chiemgau also has its charm and is well suited for winter hikes. Here you have the opportunity to hike from Marquartstein to Hochgern. Numerous metres of altitude await you on this demanding hike. However, depending on the snow conditions, there is a danger of avalanches on the 1748-metre-high mountain. For this reason, hikers need to have a certain knowledge of avalanches. In addition, you should check the current avalanche report before the hike so as not to put yourself in danger.
If you want to cover less altitude, you can also hike to the Priener Hütte, which is very popular as an excursion destination. The tour is about 16 kilometres long and leads along the forest road, mostly on a wide rolled path. To reward you for your efforts, there is a delicious snack and regional Bavarian food to eat in the hut.

The family-friendly winter hike to the foot of the Rotwand summit leaves nothing to be desired: the trail can be walked without snowshoes, you can make a leisurely stop at the Rotwandhaus, you have a breathtaking view of the surrounding mountain landscape and you can toboggan back down into the valley.
Directly at Lake Tegernsee there are also beautiful paths that run along the shores.
