Eine Besteigung von der Diavolezza-Bergstation über den ausgesetzten und brüchigen Fortezzagrat zur Marco e Rosa-Hütte und weiter über den Spallagrat zum Piz Bernina bietet ein fantastisches Bergerlebnis der Extraklasse. Hier finden sich nicht nur ausgesetzte Grat- und Felskletterei mit höchstem Genuss, vereint mit traumhaften Gletscherquerungen in absoluter Abgeschiedenheit, sondern auch in Zeiten des Gletscherschwunds noch enorme und vor allem atemberaubend schöne Eismassen, welche einen leicht in arktischen Verhältnissen wähnen lassen.
