With the exception of the first 5 km from Altenglan to Kusel, the Fritz Wunderlich Cycle Route, which is named after the acclaimed singer who was born in Kusel, runs along a disused railway line, crossing two lofty viaducts and passing through two tunnels. The paths are predominantly surfaced with crushed brick/stone, while the dense woodland and thicket that surround the tracks for most of the way lend the route a tranquil, unspoilt character.

The Palatinate Moorland Tour covers around 26 kilometres through the Westricher Moorniederung marshland. This area of flat land between the climbs up to the Sickingen Heights and into the North Palatine Uplands is no longer dominated by forbidding moorland, but instead is a region full of distinctive meadows and fields with interspersed pine forests. The circular tour is perfect for families with children. It has no major climbs and can also be ridden in two stages.

This tour leads us through the beautiful landscape of the South Palatinate.
The cycle route is surrounded by vineyards, fruit trees, fields, meadows and the Rheinaue wetlands as it wends its way through romantic villages with historic half-timbered houses. The route runs mainly on surfaced agricultural roads and cycle paths. There are just a few unsurfaced sections, but they are still suitable for cycling. There are train stations or rail halts along the route in Winden, Steinweiler and Rheinzabern.
