From the foothills of the Allgäu Alps we cross the northern Allgäu and Upper Swabia to Biberach an der Riß. A strenuous but scenically very varied tour awaits us.

From Unterjoch on the tarmac cycle path to Schattwald. In Schattwald, head north over the Zugspitzblick and down to Tannheim. From Tannheim, cycle north past Grän into the Engetal valley. Follow the road to the German/Austrian border. From here, take the gravel road uphill for 6 kilometres to the mountain station of the mountain railway. Now comes a long descent to Pfronten. From Pfronten, the route leads through the Vielstal valley to Jungholz. From Jungholz, you pass the Sorgalpe and return to Unterjoch.

This cycle tour takes us through rural eastern Allgäu, past magnificent churches and rustic farmer's villages, always with fantastic views of the Alps.
