For some, the Königssee is the most beautiful and idyllic lake in Germany. Above all, the surrounding mountains, which give the lake distinct contours and drop steeply into the water, shape the picture. It is therefore hardly surprising that it is one of the most popular excursion destinations in the Berchtesgadener Land region and attracts countless visitors every year for hiking. Among the hills are those of the Watzmann, the second highest mountain in Germany, which crowns the panorama.
